Who are we?

Armstrong Media is a small, flexible and resourceful publishing house that specialises in producing magazines, newsletters, brochures, flyers, posters – you name it, we can do it for you.

Oh, and we write content for lots of different websites too.

If you know what you want but are not sure how to get it, ask us. We’re really quite approachable – more importantly, we know what we are doing. Alternatively, if you’re not sure what you want, but need some way of communicating with customers / clients / suppliers / staff, then we can help.

We can manage your project from any stage: we can advise you at the planning stage; commission writers, designers, sub editors and photographers for you; produce the pages to sign-off and contract printing and distribution.

What we do

Apologies for those of you already working in publishing – be it online or in print – but here’s a brief description of the processes/stages involved in creating your most effective marketing tool.

The excellent Periodical Publishers’ Association has masses of information on the subject at its excellent website – http://www.ppa.co.uk/

Planning and Commissioning

Planning your publication is probably the most important part of the whole process of producing a magazine or website.

Our commissioning editors work with you to shape editorial content, suggesting feature ideas where appropriate and offering guidance and advice about what will appeal to your readers.

If required, our commissioning editors will contact freelance writers and commission them to produce bespoke articles exclusively for you.

Layout and design

We can design a magazine or website from scratch, or re-design an existing publication.

Our art editors are on hand to provide ‘visuals’ and offer ideas for pictures, graphics and other art work.

We work with the best photographers, graphic designers and illustrators – we’ll know the right person to do your job.

Headlining, caption writing, proof-reading

Once the copy is ready and placed on the page, our sub-editors check it for sense, gramma (and spelling!) and, most importantly, factual accuracy. At this stage headlines and captions are added where appropriate.

Passing for press / online publication

When the sub-editors have don their work, the copy is checked by editors before being sent back to you for approval. When you’re happy with it, we’ll double-check it one more time before it is published.

Printing and distribution

We currently work with a number of printers and are happy to negotiate page rates with them on your behalf.
